We provide personalized in-home overnight pet care, drop-in visits, and dog walking. Our overnight service includes staying in your home to maintain your pet’s routine, provide companionship, and ensure your home feels cared for while you’re away..

What areas do you service?

Ataraxia is centrally located to Grand Rapids, Mi. We find ourselves in Eastown/ East Grand Rapids, Midtown, Ada, and Cascade.

We are currently in the process of hiring overnight sitters on the Lakeshore.

Do you offer meet & greets?

Yes! You can schedule a meet & greet through our website or by texting Bailey at (616) 262-5150.

Most clients end up with 1–3 regular sitters who get to know their pets really well. Meet & greets are scheduled individually, and they often happen naturally as your care needs come up.

We just ask that you have your travel dates in mind when booking a meet & greet so we can match you with the right sitter from the start.

Do you stay in my home all day during an overnight?

Overnight care means your sitter sleeps in your home and maintains your pet’s regular routine. They are not required to stay 24/7, but they do follow your pet’s alone-time limits and return throughout the day for meals, walks, snuggles, and care. If your pet requires more constant companionship, we can discuss customized care.

How often will my pet be checked on during the day?

We guarantee visits based on your pet’s needs (typically every 4–6 hours), and will follow any specific schedule you provide. Communication and transparency are key — we treat your pet like our own. If you sitter must be away for longer than your pet can be alone, we have options!

How do I book services?

We kindly ask that you do not text your sitter directly.

This helps us keep scheduling organized, ensure sitter availability, and maintain the best experience for everyone under Ataraxia’s metaphorical roof. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!

What is your cancellation policy?

We genuinely understand that plans change. However, when sitters reserve time for your pet, they’re holding space in their schedule and often turning down other bookings. Our cancellation policy protects their time while remaining fair to you.

Overnight Stays

  • Cancel within 7 days of your start date → 20% of the booking cost is due.

  • Cancel the day before or day-of the booking → 50% of the booking cost is due.

Drop-In Visits

  • Cancel with 3 days or less notice$5 fee.

  • Cancel day-of$10 fee.

  • If you cancel any number of scheduled drop-ins, there is a $3/visit cancellation charge.
    This is because those visit spots are held specifically for your pet.

What are your overnight rates?

Overnights: $90 per night

  • $5–$10 for additional dogs (depending on care needs)

  • No charge for extra cats, unless there are 3 or more cats requiring more involved care.

How far in advance should I book?

We always recommend booking as early as possible — especially for holidays, school breaks, and summer travel.

Here’s how our scheduling works:

  • When you submit a request on our website, it goes onto our shared scheduling spreadsheet.

  • Drop-ins: We can cover these almost always when requested in advance — about 99% of the time.

  • Overnights: These often remain “pending” while we finalize sitter matching. We aim to have all overnights confirmed 1.5–2 months before your travel dates.
    This ensures that if we are unable to match a sitter, you have plenty of time to plan a backup!

How will I receive updates during care?

Your sitter will send you updates through our digital Report Card system, which includes:

  • Photos

  • Notes about how your pet is doing

  • Confirmation of feedings, walks, meds, and routines

If you prefer more or fewer check-ins, just let us know — we tailor communication to your comfort level.
